The Renowned Musician Calls On Support to Get Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It has a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a range of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of producers and composers. The single blends a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The team running the campaign have emphasized that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from later in the month.
