The Ideal Pocket Monster Tales: Z-A Mega Evolution According to the Zodiac Sign
The comeback of Super Forms in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sparked widespread excitement within the community. From the gradual reveal of fresh additions before the title's release, to players developing firm opinions on the full lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's plenty for enthusiasts to anticipate.
Given many of the Mega Evolutions showcasing unique designs that highlight their personalities, one thought came to mind: What's the best way to connect this with zodiac signs? The following is inspired by a mix of intuition, sign stereotypes, and personal experience.
The Ram – Super Camerupt
Honestly, Houndoom was almost chosen for Aries, as both are the Mega Pokémon and zodiac symbol that evoke the most fear. However, a Mega Houndoom comes across as constantly furious, which isn't typical of the Aries vibe, renowned for being fun, cheerful, and impulsive. This makes the Ram far more similar to Super Camerupt, which only erupts when angered. Stay on the friendly side of both and benefit from a powerful partner; if you cross them, prepare to face the consequences.
The Bull – Mega Heracross
Much like a loyal Taurus, the reliable Heracross, both in its standard and Super Form, has aided many players in Legends: Z-A. While dependable, each the creature and a Taurus are also Fighting types, and – be it their trainer or a strong opinion – will stand up for their side to the end. The thing about Super Heracross that reminds me most of my Bull-sign companions, though, is its unashamed love of snacks. Many past Pokédex entries note their fondness for sweet tree sap and how it employs its appendage to hoard it everything, which is pure Taurus energy.
The Twins – Super Medicham
Observe this total royalty. It's impossible to convince me this Pokémon is not the life of every party, offering an endless fountain of gossip to anyone who wants to listen. Much like an enrapturing, sociable Twins, it's very easy to envision Super Medicham mesmerizing an entire open area with their tales. Medicham’s official description also states its capacity to predict an enemy’s next moves, which seems quite similar to a socially-savvy Twins.
Cancer – Mega Manectric
Cancer is commonly considered as the most sensitive sign of the zodiac, a passionate sign famous for often getting wrapped up in their emotions. According to the Pokédex, Mega Evolution charges the creature with a “huge quantity of electricity, but it's excessive for Manectric to fully control,” which sounds a lot like a classic Cancer crash-out. This Pokémon is also known for its capability to make a storm cloud over its very head – and if there’s a single trait a Crab is likely to do, it’s rain on their good time.
The Lion – Super Starmie
Oh, did you think I was going to select the lion Pokémon for the lion of the zodiac? Aside from the reality that it would be much too obvious, The Lion is obviously Super Starmie, the star whose legs just became an internet sensation for being too glamorous (or terrifying, based on your preference). Players were captivated from the violet sea star, and that’s precisely the same energy a Lion offers to the scene. This Pokémon is also rumored to be broadcasting signals from its center out into space, and it’s typical of a Lion to be staging a performance, albeit for extraterrestrials.
Virgo – Super Victreebel
The ever-prepared and constantly-worried Virgo is perfectly encapsulated in Super Victreebel, the Mega with perpetual digestive issues. The zodiac symbol known for being charmingly critical is clearly mirrored across this Pokémon’s whole lineage, from a perpetually shocked expression like a Maiden when you inform them you don’t have a retirement plan, to its upside-down face that’s similar to the symbol a Virgo sends to the chatroom when all says they want to “go with the flow” rather than creating a plan.
Libra – Mega Audino
Observe this sweet, sensitive being, who uses the feelers on its auditory organs to tell how people are feeling by their pulse. Always compassionate – occasionally to a detriment – and striving to maintain the harmony, there are many Scales who would likely appreciate Super Audino's abilities. However, let’s be honest, it would likely just cause them to stress more about everyone else.
The Scorpion – Super Banette
Banette is a creature with a unexpectedly tragic origin: Abandoned as a toy, it became sentient through sheer hatred and vowed retribution on its former owner. According to the official info, Super Evolution, “increases its spitefulness.” That seems exactly like several discussions I’ve had with my scary Scorpio acquaintances. A Scorpion adores karma and comeuppance, making them the ideal match with Mega Banette.
Sagittarius – Mega Hawlucha
Both Mega Hawlucha and Archers are always staging a performance. As a Sagittarius myself, the number of occasions I’ve called myself some variation of a “playful little entertainer” is innumerable. The most flamboyant and most obnoxious Mega Evolution, its Pokédex entry even mentions how it “poses to display its power.” I would do the exact same thing if I had a Mega evolved form, making Mega Hawlucha the most fitting Archer match I can imagine.
The Goat – Super Absol
Were you aware that a Super Absol has the power to predict disasters in advance? That exudes the identical energy as a Goat, who often consistently believe they’re correct. The thing is, similar to a prophetic Super Absol, they often are. It’s also the absolute initial Super Form that trainers meet in Legends: Z-A – just like a Goat to get in on the beginning of the Super Form craze.
Aquarius – Mega Chandelure
Aloof element Aquarius is possibly the non-flame placement that is closest to a flame symbol – its sister sign is Leo, and there are countless memes about Sagittarius and Water Bearer being chaotic accomplices. Mega Chandelure’s dual Ghost/Fire typing matches perfectly with this, and the Mega’s general daunting aura is also extremely Water Bearer. If you weren’t already convinced, the Mega’s description says it “absorbs negative energy and converts it into strength.” If that fails to perfectly {encaps
