Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Vigils across the state have been held in their honor.
White House Offer
The president stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”
Public Response
Community members assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her former high school, informed the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”
Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Government Changes
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The incident led the government to suspend refugee claims and cease providing visas to holders of travel documents.
Status of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to his relatives.
Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
