Combatants laugh as they ride on the rear of a pick-up truck, speeding alongside a series of nine dead bodies and moving in the direction of the sinking African evening sky.

"See such work. Observe this ethnic cleansing," a combatant exclaims.

He smiles as he turns the recording device on his person and his fellow fighters, their paramilitary insignia clearly shown: "These people will all perish in this manner."

These individuals are rejoicing over a massacre that relief organizations believe killed in excess of thousands of civilians in the African city of the Darfur city during October.

A City Cut Off from the Outside

After maintaining the city under siege for almost two years, from August the RSF advanced to strengthen its dominance and prevent access for the leftover inhabitants.

Space-based imagery reveal that troops started to build a massive berm - a built-up sand barrier - encircling the edges of the city, blocking access routes and halting aid.

During the encirclement worsened, seventy-eight people were slain in an RSF assault on a place of worship on mid-September, while the international organization stated 53 additional were slain in aerial and artillery attacks on a refugee settlement in fall.

Explicit Footage Depicts Unarmed Civilians Executed

In the early morning on 26 October the militia defeated the final military strongholds and captured the central compound in the city, the command center of the Army Division, as the government forces retreated.

Perhaps the most disturbing recordings to surface and studied revealed the results of a massacre at a educational facility on the western side of the city, where dozens dead bodies were visible spread over the area.

An elderly person dressed in a white tunic remained by himself amid the bodies. The man looked to gaze as a fighter equipped with a rifle moved down the stairs facing the individual. pointing his firearm, the gunman discharged a solitary round at the individual, who fell to the ground lifeless.

"Why is this one yet living," another combatant cried. "Shoot him."

Orbital photography recorded on 26 October seemed to confirm that executions were additionally performed on the roads of the city, according to a study published by the university analysis team.

An observer who spoke said the individual had witnessed "many of our relatives being executed - these individuals were collected in a single location and everyone murdered."

RSF Commanders Seek to Carry Out Public Relations

In the days that ensued from the massacre, RSF chief acknowledged that his forces had committed "wrongdoings" and announced the events would be examined.

Included among arrested was after a investigation recording his killings. Deliberately choreographed and edited footage posted on the RSF's authorized messaging platform show the individual being taken into a detention area at a jail on the edges of el-Fasher.

Simultaneously, the militia and affiliated online accounts commenced trying to reshape the story.

Posts showing its fighters distributing supplies to inhabitants were circulated by various accounts, while the militia's public relations unit shared several videos purporting to demonstrate the proper management of government prisoners of war.

In spite of the social media campaign being deployed by the RSF, their activities in the city have provoked international anger.
