Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
