Grief as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.

A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 40-year-old media personality was confronted by a trio of assailants, one of whom began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.

How It Happened

Authorities revealed that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a premises close to the city center landmark.

He had been present for hours at the building managing the installation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, according to reports.

"The report indicates the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities said.

Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and wearing what resembled a security uniform opening fire on Stock before running away.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but collapsed a short distance away.

Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the attack.
