Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
